Pumpkin Patches & Corn Mazes in Illinois

I've compiled a list of family oriented fun places to visit during the fall season. This by no means includes all the pumpkin patches in Illinois, but I have tried to include pumpkin farms that have several activities available, especially activities appealing to several age groups. I've excluded some of the farms with only kiddie activities, or with activities limited to just wagon rides or farm animals without being coupled with activities that would appeal to a variety of interests. Please visit the website and/or call the farm or town before you go to visit. Some events are only available for a very limited time period.

Landing Deck of the USS LST - 325

The landing deck is where the vehicles, tanks, ambulances, etc. would be loaded, stored, transported and unloaded. The engine rooms were below this deck, but were off limits to the tour.

WWII Ship - USS LST - 325

We toured the LST (Landing Ship Tank) 325 about two weeks ago when she was moored in Ft. Madison, IA (on the Mississippi) as part of her annual tour. This gargantuan beauty was saved from the scrap yards in 2000 by a group of 50 Navy veterans who attempted to sail her from Greece back to the U.S. That mission was almost ended when the ship, already badly in need of repairs was caught in a life threatening storm on the ocean. The ship is now housed in Evansville, IN, but is also a floating museum that sails up tho six weeks per year (usually in August and September). For information, call the Ship#812-433-8678 or see www.evansvillecvb.org
